Salary £50,000 to £60,000 per annum pro rata for part time.

Using our dynamic lens technologies, Adlens is developing new solutions to revolutionise the way we see – allowing our vision to work naturally in virtual worlds, mixed realities and in the real world too.


The role:

Reporting to the CTO the purpose of this role is to specify and manage the development of software that enables exploration of the design space of our lenses and specification of lens surfaces for manufacture at an ophthalmic lab. This role will support the design team, optical design and the order process database.

Key duties & responsibilities

  • Applied scientific software development / simulation.
  • Fluent in at least one of Matlab / Python / Octave, and good programming disciplines
  • Formalised software development experience including test and code validation
  • Enterprise Software versioning repositories (Git Hub / Subversion)
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Education and experience in ray optics
  • Physics – ray optics of thin systems
  • Mathematics competence: a working knowledge of linear algebra, vector mechanics and matrix formalism.

Desired experience

  • Familiarity with SolidWorks / CAD.
  • Team lead or product management experience
  • Ophthalmic lens experience preferred.
  • Zemax / CodeV

Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD equivalent in Physical science, especially optics or equivalent experience. OR
  • Engineering / computer science with significant experience in an optical design field.
