Optical Lab Technician

Optical Lab Technician

Full-time weekday hours – Will consider Part-time applications

Based in Eynsham, Head Office (OX29 4TP)

We are seeking an Optical Lab Technician to join our innovative optical company that is developing glasses using adaptive focus lenses. The glasses will be an alternative to varifocals, and we’ve already trialled them and got a great response from both wearers and opticians. Come and help us launch them.

You will be working with a team of highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals who are all working towards a common goal, but we always make sure that we have fun along the way, with regular group activities and social events.

Your role within the team

You will work closely with our laboratory manager, design engineers, scientists and manufacturing specialists in producing our specialist lenses and eyewear.

As our Optical Lab Technician, you’ll be able to enjoy the benefits of working in a lab preparing customer prescriptions to the highest standards. This will involve having dextrous skills and having the ability to interpret numbers from an optical prescription. You will be responsible for the glazing, as well as overseeing the stock levels, informing customers of their order status and maintaining the equipment.

As you will be working on a brand new and innovative piece of eyewear, you should be keen to learn, and even though you will be able to follow evolving systems and processes, you will also have the opportunity to challenge and suggest improved ways of working.

You should be able to work as part of a team, be organised and, ideally, have experience of working in an Optical lab as a Lab Technician or Glazing Technician. However, we are keen to nurture and teach new talent, so if you can show that you have dexterous skills, excellent hand to eye coordination and an interest in new and innovative optical technologies, we would like to hear from you.

  • Eligible to work in the UK, though we will continue sponsorship for anyone who is already here.

Salary £20,000 – £23,000 DOE
