AdSpecs Technology

Original Adspecs is the first adaptive eyeglass product. Tens of thousands of users have successfully used Adspecs to find their best vision and make their own eyeglasses with supervision.

Adspecs have large, fluid-filled lenses that achieve a widely tunable lens power range (-6 to +6 diopters spherical). The fluid reservoirs on the Adspecs are detachable syringes.

Users adjust the lenses slowly from positive to negative power for each eye individually. To seal the lenses, they close a screw, cutting off the fluid flow. The attached tubes are then cut off and the adjusters removed. This device is the first 'set-and-seal' adaptive eyeglass.

Deployments

Original Adspecs debuted in 2005. 30,000 pairs have been deployed to date. 11,000 pairs have gone to the Ghana Non-Formal Education Division of the Ministry of Education. They were deployed as part of a World Bank-funded initiative to teach adults how to read in their native languages and in English. DFID, Britain's international development agency, underwrote 1,000 pairs.

The US State Department has deployed thousands of pairs on US military humanitarian missions throughout Africa and Eurasia. Adspecs have also been deployed in test quantities in Brazil, Tibet & South Africa.

Currently, original Adspecs are not available for sale, but please contact us if you are interested in custom bulk orders.
